Motorola has now started rolling out Android 9 Pie update for the Moto Z3 and Moto G6+. The Moto Z3 runs a near stock vrson of Android 9 Pie. The update brings new features such as the latest navigation gestures, app switcher, adaptive battery and brightness, UI changes, as well as updated notifications. The update also includes the January 2019 security patch for the Moto Z3. You can read the complete changelog here.
Besides, Motorola has also added support for 5G MotoMod for the Moto Z3 on Verizon network. This would allow Motorola to bring 5G support to a smartphone without releasing a standalone phone with built-in 5G. That said, Motorola hasn’t released the mod yet.
Elsewhere, a post on Reddit also suggests that the Moto G6+ has also been updated to Android 9 Pie. However, it gets the older December 1 security patch.
Being an OTA update, Android 9 Pie for the Moto Z3 and Moto G6+ is being rolled out in phases. Some users would have got the new update on Tuesday, while a broader rollout is expected to begin shortly. In the meantime, you can manually check for the update by heading over to Settings> System> System Updates.
