How to Create a Podcast Using AI tools

Safari is the default web browser on iPhones and iPads. This means that whenever you tap on a link in an email, a message, or almost any other app, it will open in Safari. For many people, Safari works perfectly well. But if you prefer using a different browser, like Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Edge, or another alternative, you might want links to open in your preferred app automatically. This became possible with iOS 14 (and iPadOS 14) and later versions. I switched to using a different browser on my iPhone a while back, and setting it as the default made everything much more convenient; links stopped opening in Safari unexpectedly.

Changing the default browser on your iOS device is a simple process, but it requires that you have the alternative browser app installed on your iPhone or iPad first and that your device is running a recent version of iOS. Here’s how to do it.

    Prerequisites:

    1. iOS 14 or Later: Ensure your iPhone or iPad is updated to at least iOS 14 or iPadOS 14. The ability to change the default browser was introduced in these versions. You can check your iOS version in Settings > General > About > iOS Version.
    2. The Browser App Installed: Download and install the alternative web browser app you want to use from the App Store.

Step 1: Open the Settings App

    • Find the Settings app icon on your iPhone or iPad’s home screen. It looks like a set of grey gears.
    • Tap on the Settings icon to open the app.

Step 2: Scroll Down to the Browser App

    • In the Settings menu, scroll down the list of apps you have installed on your device. The apps are usually listed alphabetically after the main system settings.
    • Find and tap on the name of the browser app you want to set as your default (e.g., “Chrome,” “Firefox,” “Edge”).

How to Find It: Just scroll down through the list of all the applications installed on your phone.

Step 3: Tap on “Default Browser App”

    • Within the settings for that specific browser app, look for an option that says Default Browser App.”
    • Tap on “Default Browser App.”

How to Know if the Option is There: If you don’t see the “Default Browser App” option listed in the settings for that browser, it might mean the app does not support being set as the default browser, or your iOS version is older than 14. Most major third-party browsers support this feature.

Step 4: Select Your Preferred Browser

    • On the “Default Browser App” screen, you will see a list of the web browsers installed on your device that support being set as the default.
    • Tap on the name of the browser you want to use as your default.
    • A blue checkmark will appear next to the browser you selected, indicating that it is now the default.

How to Confirm: Once you tap on your preferred browser, the checkmark confirms your selection. You can then navigate back out of the Settings app.

    Putting it into Practice

Once you have completed these steps, any time you tap on a web link from another app (like Mail, Messages, Notes, or a third-party app), it will automatically open in the browser app you selected as your default. You can still use Safari by opening it directly, but links from other apps will no longer automatically go there. It felt so much more seamless once all my links started opening in my preferred browser.

Changing Back to Safari (or Another Browser)

If you change your mind later and want to switch your default browser back to Safari or select a different alternative, simply repeat these steps. Go back into Settings, find the browser app you want to use as default, tap on “Default Browser App,” and select your choice from the list.

Changing the default browser on your iPhone or iPad is a quick and easy way to customize your iOS experience and ensure links open in the browser you prefer, enhancing your Browse workflow.

    Show thinking

Starting a podcast might seem daunting, requiring skills in writing, recording, editing, and production. But Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools are making podcast creation more accessible, automating various parts of the process. You can use AI to help brainstorm ideas, write scripts, generate audio, edit, and even promote your show. I started experimenting with AI for some of the more tedious parts of content creation, and I was surprised at how much time it saved and how it helped refine my workflow.

Creating a podcast using AI tools involves leveraging technology at different stages of production. Here’s a how-to guide to show you how AI can assist you in building your podcast.

Step 1: Planning and Scripting with AI

Every podcast starts with an idea and a plan. AI can jumpstart your creativity and help structure your episodes.

    • Idea Generation: If you’re stuck for topics, AI tools can help.
      • Use large language models (like ChatGPT or similar AI writing platforms) and give them prompts about your podcast’s theme or niche. Ask for episode ideas, angles, or series concepts.
    • Script Outlining and Writing: AI can assist with structuring your episode and even drafting sections of your script.
      • Provide AI with your topic and key points. Ask it to create an outline for an episode.
      • Give AI the outline or specific points and ask it to write introductions, transitions, or even full segments of your script.

How to Use AI for Scripting: Treat AI as a co-writer or an assistant. It can overcome writer’s block and provide a solid starting point, but always review and edit the AI-generated content to ensure it sounds like you and fits your podcast’s style and voice. AI helped me brainstorm different ways to structure an interview episode, giving me options I hadn’t considered.

Step 2: Audio Generation or Enhancement with AI

This is where you get the voice for your podcast. AI offers options for both generating voices from text or improving recorded human audio.

    • AI Voice Generation (Text-to-Speech): If you don’t want to use your own voice or hire voice actors, AI can create narration from your script.
      • Use AI text-to-speech tools (many are available online or integrated into audio platforms).
      • Input your script or text.
      • Choose from various AI voices (male, female, different accents, and tones).
      • Generate the audio files.
    • AI Voice Cloning: Some advanced tools can create an AI voice based on a sample of your own voice.
    • AI for Human Voice Enhancement: If you record your own voice or interview guests, AI can improve the audio quality.
      • Use AI tools integrated into audio editors or dedicated AI audio enhancers.
      • These tools can automatically improve clarity, adjust tone, and make voices sound more professional.

How to Generate/Enhance Audio: For fully AI-generated podcasts, text-to-speech is the core. Experiment with different AI voices to find one that fits your podcast’s personality. If you’re using human voices, AI enhancement can significantly clean up recordings made even with basic equipment. I was amazed the first time I heard AI turn a somewhat noisy recording into clear audio.

Ethical Considerations with AI Voices: If using AI voices, especially clones of real voices, be mindful of ethical implications and potential copyright issues. Be transparent with your audience if the voice is AI-generated. Get proper consent if cloning a voice.

Step 3: Audio Editing and Post-Production with AI

Editing can be time-consuming, but AI can automate common tasks like noise reduction, removing filler words, and balancing audio levels.

    • AI Noise Reduction: Remove background noise, hums, or other unwanted sounds.
      • Many AI audio editing tools or dedicated noise reduction services offer this feature. Upload your audio, and AI analyzes and cleans the track.
    • AI Filler Word and Silence Removal: Automatically identify and remove “ums,” “ahs,” pauses, and long silences.
      • Some AI editing platforms can analyze transcripts to quickly cut these out of the audio.
    • AI Audio Mastering: Optimize the overall sound quality, loudness, and clarity of your finished episode for consistent playback across different devices and platforms.
      • AI mastering tools analyze your mixed audio and apply professional-grade processing.

How to Edit with AI: Use AI tools to handle the repetitive cleanup tasks. This frees you up to focus on the creative edits, like arranging segments or adding music. AI tools can quickly identify and remove awkward pauses that I might miss during manual editing.

Step 4: Generate Transcripts and Show Notes with AI

Providing transcripts makes your podcast accessible and improves its searchability. Show notes help listeners find resources mentioned in the episode. AI can automate both.

    • AI Transcription: Convert your audio into text.
      • Many AI transcription services offer high accuracy and can differentiate between speakers. Upload your audio, and AI provides a transcript.
    • AI Show Notes Generation: Summarize your episode and create key takeaways or bullet points for your show notes.
      • Provide AI with your transcript or a summary of the episode. Ask it to generate show notes, including timestamps if your transcription tool supports it.

How to Generate Text Content: AI significantly speeds up the process of getting a written version of your podcast. This is valuable for accessibility and creating supporting content for your website or social media.

Step 5: Create Cover Art and Promotional Materials with AI

Visually representing your podcast is important for attracting listeners. AI can help with design tasks.

    • AI Image Generators: Create unique cover art for your podcast.
      • Use AI image generation tools. Provide prompts describing the style, theme, and elements you want in your cover art.
      • Refine the generated images until you get something you like.
    • AI for Promotional Content: Get ideas or drafts for social media posts, audiograms (waveform videos with audio), or other promotional materials.
      • Use AI writing tools (Step 1) to generate social media captions or marketing copy based on your episode’s content.

How to Create Visuals/Promo: AI image generators can quickly produce multiple cover art options based on your ideas. AI can also help draft engaging text to promote your episodes on social media.

    Limitations and the Human Touch

While AI is powerful, it has limitations. AI-generated voices can sometimes sound unnatural or lack the nuance of human emotion. AI scripts might feel generic. Full automation might lack the authentic connection listeners often seek in podcasts.

    How to Address Limitations:

    • Human Review and Editing: Always review and refine AI-generated content (scripts, audio, text) to ensure quality, accuracy, and authenticity.
    • Combine AI with Human Elements: Use AI for specific tasks (like editing or transcription) while providing the human voice and creative direction yourself.
    • Focus on Storytelling: Whether human or AI-assisted, a compelling narrative or interesting conversation is key to a good podcast.

Creating a podcast with AI tools doesn’t mean you just push a button and a finished podcast appears. It’s about using these tools strategically to assist with tasks, overcome technical hurdles, and streamline your workflow. By understanding what AI can do at each stage, from planning to promotion, you can leverage this technology to bring your podcast idea to life more efficiently. Experimenting with different AI tools helped me find the right balance between automation and maintaining the personal touch that makes a podcast engaging.

  • Mediatek Announces Dimensity 1000 Soc, The Company’s First 5g Chipset

Mediatek Announces Dimensity 1000 Soc, The Company’s First 5g Chipset

New Google Pixel 4 XL hands-on video leaked

It appears the upcoming Pixel 4 has already beaten its predecessor when it comes to leaks. So far, there’s been no shortage of rumors about Google’s next flagship, set for a release in October. Just last week, we came across a promo video of handset showcasing its camera prowess and gesture control features. Now, the Pixel 4 has shown up not one, but two hands-on videos, giving us the most comprehensive look yet at Google’s next flagship.

The first video shows a six and a half minute clip of the white color model. It features a matte black panel as well as matte black sides. The black and white color scheme indeed reminds one of panda styling of the Pixel 2 XL.

  • 2020 Ford Explorer Hybrid offers better mileage and more power

2020 Ford Explorer Hybrid offers better mileage and more power

The EPA has revealed fuel economy estimates for the 2020 Ford Explorer Hybrid, making it a viable option for those on the lookout for a green SUV. The estimates indicate that the rear-wheel-drive variant of the SUV offers a better fuel economy compared to its all-wheel-drive sibling.

The rear-wheel-drive model of Ford’s latest hybrid churns out 27 miles-per-gallon in the city, 29 miles-per-gallon on highways, and 28 miles-per-gallon combined. In comparison, the all-wheel-drive model will deliver 23 miles-per-gallon in the city, 26 miles-per-gallon on highways, and 25 miles-per-gallon combined.

The new Ford Explorer Hybrid certainly won’t disappoint when it comes to long trips. The rear-wheel-drive variant offers a range of more than 500 miles between fill-ups. The all-wheel-drive, on the other hand, has a range of 450 miles between fill-ups. Not only has it the ability to deliver on long trips, but it also has the towing power. The latest hybrid model has the power to lift up to 5,600 pounds.

The 2020 Ford Explorer Hybrid will rival the likes of Toyota’s Highlander Hybrid SUV when it launches. However, sources indicate that Ford’s latest hybrid still can’t beat Toyota’s Highlander Hybrid when it comes to fuel economy. The Japanese automaker’s 2019 all-wheel-drive model churns out 28 miles-per-gallon combined, while its upcoming 2020 Highlander Hybrid is expected to deliver an estimated 34 miles-per-gallon combined.

  • FTC and AT&T settle data slowdon lawsuit

FTC and AT&T settle data slowdon lawsuit

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and AT&T have reached an agreement over a data throttling lawsuit, which accused the carrier of slowing down data sent to wireless devices. A federal court ruling has revealed that the two parties agreed to a settlement on August 2, and requested a 90-day stay so that FCC can review and vote on the agreement. That said, the value of the settlement remains unknown. Key sources, however, suggest that the deal will include an injunction as well as a monetary payment.

To recall, the FTC sued AT&T in 2014 for throttling unlimited data plans without clearly informing its customers. The commission stated that the carrier didn’t do enough to notify or warn customers that it massively slows down their data after it reaches a specific limit. FTC’s primary concern was AT&T’s integrity and honesty, as the carrier changed the terms of use for subscribers without providing them with proper information.

In response, AT&T claimed that the FTC’s lawsuit was ‘baseless’ as only 3 percent of customers were affected by the change of terms, who were eventually notified of data throttling over text. That said, FTC argued that AT&T didn’t give its customers an apparent warning, which applied to users that subscribed to AT&T’s early unlimited data plans.

While back in 2016, an appeals court stated that AT&T’S ‘common carrier status’ implied that they don’t need to reveal the throttle as per FTC. In 2018, however, a federal court allowed FTC to move forward with its case against AT&T, stating that data services weren’t part of the common carrier status.

It remains to be seen what FTC’s settlement with AT&T would mean for the rest of the industry, as many carriers in the country now practice data throttling. New research claims that carriers in the US are involved in more aggressive data throttling practices than what they’ve led subscribers to believe. The study found that the big four carriers in the US aggressively throttle data, irrespective of network congestion.

  • Apple TV+ set for a November release at $9.99 a month

Apple TV+ set for a November release at $9.99 a month

Apple’s upcoming streaming service, Apple TV+, is all set for a release in November. Although Apple is yet to confirm any launch window or monthly tiers officially, key sources indicate that the company plans to launch its streaming service at $9.99 a month. Upon its release, the service will directly compete with the likes of Netflix, Prime Video, Hulu, and more.

Apple will likely offer a free trial period for subscribers, just like Apple Music, which had a free trial period of three months. Likewise, even Apple’s game subscription services offer a free trial, but only for a month.

For now, sources indicate Apple will offer five shows when Apple TV Plus is officially released. These include ‘Truth Be Told’ featuring actress Octavia Spencer, ‘See’ starring Jason Momoa, and ‘The Morning Show’ featuring Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon. Besides, there’s also going to be a show called Amazing Stories by Steven Spielberg, along with a show called ‘Home’ that’ll showcase luxury and extravagant houses.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eA7D4_qU9jo

That said, Apple will to need to acquire rights for many other shows, as the original content they have on offer isn’t enough.
In comparison to what competitors have on offer, Apple’s streaming service pales in comparison.

Well established names like Netflix and Disney have more to offer for the same basic monthly plan. The iPhone-maker is late to the party with its streaming service, and the only way to make a mark into the streaming world would be to offer viewers a plethora of choices. Now, this means investing a lot of money to make binge-worthy content. Financial Times reports that Apple plans to spend nearly $6 billion on shows and rights.

That said, it is still far less than what the likes of Netflix and Disney are expected to invest. Netflix is reported to have a budget of $14 billion for new releases this year, while Disney is said to spend around $24 billion on new releases this year.

As already mentioned, Apple’s new streaming service launches in November with tiers starting at $9.99 per month. It’ll be interesting to see how Apple TV+ will compete against the likes of Netflix and Disney, who offer a plethora of content for their viewers.

  • Nintendo officially denies Switch exchange program

Nintendo officially denies Switch exchange program

Multiple reports surfaced last week suggesting that Nintendo is letting users exchange their Switch units for the upgraded model for free. According to various reports, customers in the U.S. and Canada can exchange their current Switch for a new one, if purchased after July 17.

However, a new report by The Verge notes that there’s no official exchange program for Switch. In a statement, a spokesperson for Nintendo stated that the company ‘do not have a Nintendo Switch exchange program.’

With that said, it appears Nintendo Switch owners can still swap their Switch units for the improved model, which now offers a better battery life of up to nine hours. Key sources indicate that Nintendo is still welcoming exchange requests.

First reported via a user on Reddit, eligible customers will need to contact Nintendo customer care and will have to pay for shipping the shipping costs. Even Polygon reported that they got in touch with a Nintendo representative and confirmed that the trade-in offer was indeed eligible.

Get in touch with Nintendo customer care

Besides, even Nintendo’s spokesperson’s statement seems to suggest that you can trade-in your current Switch for a new one. “We always want players to enjoy their Nintendo Switch systems, and if anything ever gets in the way of that, we encourage them to visit http://support.nintendo.com for support, or to contact our consumer support team.”

The new model has a superior battery life, nearly twice the original Switch. Besides, Nintendo claims that games like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild can be played for five-and-a-half hours compared to the original model’s three. Nintendo will also be releasing the Switch Lite later this fall, which can be used in conjunction with a TV.

  • Ninja alleges Twitch for suggesting porn on his old channel

Ninja alleges Twitch for suggesting porn on his old channel

Popular streamer Tyler Blevins aka Ninja has called out on Twitch for promoting porn on his dormant channel. Polygon reports that streamer Daniel KEEMSTAR Keem was the first to notice pornographic material recommended on Ninja’s old channel on Twitch.

“Over the last couple of days, there have been some things going on that we’ve let slide, they were kind of annoying, little jabs, we felt like but it didn’t matter, we want to stay professional,” Ninja said.

Ninja further alleges that Twitch hasn’t done the same to anyone else who has gone offline, but just him. He also added that this could damage his brand and reputation that he’s built over the years.

“I’ve been streaming for eight years, to build my brand, to build that channel, 14.5 million followers, and they were still using that channel to promote other streamers,” he added.

This fiasco could likely be a result of Ninja deciding to leave Twitch for Microsoft’s Mixer. Ninja grew a massive fan following on Twitch, however, on August 1, he made a surprise announcement that he would exclusively stream for Microsoft’s Mixer service. By the looks of it, Twitch didn’t take it well as Ninja decided to stream solely on a rival platform. He was consistently one of the biggest streamers on Twitch, and his decision to leave was a significant blow for the platform.

Twitch has now reportedly reverted Ninja’s dormant page to a regular offline screen, along with chat, where users are lashing out for apparent reasons.

  • iPhone 11 could hit store shelves on September 20

iPhone 11 could hit store shelves on September 20

We already know that Apple will unveil its 2019 iPhone lineup in September. Apple is widely expected to unveil three new iPhone models this year. That said, details about an exact release date remain a mystery. Unlike Samsung, Apple is rather good at keeping details about its future products a closely guarded secret. That said, it appears president of a Japanese carrier might have accidentally revealed the date when the next iPhone range could go on sale.

During an investor meeting earlier this week, Softbank president Ken Miyauchi tipped that the iPhone 11 could go on sale on September 20.

Telecom authorities in Japan recently announced new regulations for carriers. The new rules no longer allow them to offer separate data and device plans. While trying to explain how they will tackle these new regulations which go live on October 1, Miyauchi dropped a hint that the iPhone 11 could start shipping on September 20.

“Honestly, I am wondering what should I do for 10 days. No, I shouldn’t say that. Anyway, I don’t know when the new iPhone will be released. However, almost after 10 days, it will be unbundled,” said Miyauchi.

iPhone 11 to start shipping on September 20 does make a lot of sense. Key sources indicate that Apple is expected to host an event on September 10, while pre-orders are likely to begin next Friday on September 13. Apple typically starts shipping new iPhones a week after their official unveiling; therefore, the first customers who pre-ordered the handset will likely get it by September 20.

Apple is widely expected to announce three new iPhones in September. These include the iPhone XI, iPhone XI Max, and iPhone XR. The upcoming iPhones are expected to get similar screens as the current-gen iPhone models, though with larger batteries. The iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Max are expected to pack three rear cameras. The selfie camera is expected to be upgraded to a 10-megapixel sensor, while the rear ones are expected to have 14-megapixel sensors.

Meanwhile, the iPhone XIR is expected to boast dual-rear cameras, as opposed to a single-lens primary camera found on the current iPhone XR. Besides, analysts at Citi Research have also indicated that Apple Pencil support might finally arrive with the iPhone 11.

  • Facebook plans to rename Instagram and WhatsApp

Facebook plans to rename Instagram and WhatsApp

Both WhatsApp and Instagram are essentially household names around the world. With such popularity, one would assume that renaming both these brands would be simply pointless and downright crazy. Though, it appears that’s exactly what Facebook has in mind.

The company confirmed on Friday about it plans to rename WhatsApp and Instagram. Facebook essentially plans to add its own name to these apps. Hence, from now on, WhatsApp will be known as ‘WhatsApp from Facebook’ and similarly, Instagram will be called ‘Instagram from Facebook’.

The whole point behind the name change is that Facebook wants people to know who’s the boss, as it owns both Instrgram and WhatsApp. Sources indicate that the new name will be displayed only on the app stgore pages on both iOS and Android. The name change will also be visible on the login pages.

“We want to be clearer about the products and services that are part of Facebook”. said Facebook.

To recall, Facebook bought Instagram back in 2012 followed by WhatsApp in 2014.Since then, Facebook has allowed to them function as seperate entities, with their own namagers, employees, and different work places.

In the past few years, even Facebook has acquired a lot of features from Instagram For instance, Intagram. stories, a feature inspired by Snpachat, was added to WhatsApp as Status and on Facebook as stories. However, Facebook has also been slammed over data privacy and security concerns over the past few years. For now, Instagram and WhatsApp are not affected by these privacy issues, and we hope it stays the same.

  • New Pixel 4 video goes big on gesture controls and face unlock

New Pixel 4 video goes big on gesture controls and face unlock

Google is seemingly trying to build a hype about its upcoming Pixel 4 range. The company just released a new video which teases the handset’s new face unlock mechanism and gesture control feature. Whether both features will attract more users towards Pixel 4 handsets, only time will tell. For now, Google has shown-off Pixel 4’s face unlock and gesture control features in the new video. The short video posted on YouTube essentially suggests how users will be able to control the Pixel 4 without touching the screen, just by hand gestures.

According to Google, gesture control features is the result of new radar technology called Soli. The upcoming Pixel phones will have support for this technology developed by the Advanced Technology and Projects division at Google. Soli relies on high-end optical technology to detect movements off the screen, while the underlying software responds to such movements.

“Pixel 4 will be the first device with Soli, powering our new Motion Sense features to allow you to skip songs, snooze alarms, and silence phone calls, just by waving your hand. These capabilities are just the start, and just as Pixels get better over time, Motion Sense will evolve as well,” said Google.

Elsewhere, Google also plans to upgrade the face unlock mechanism with its new Pixel range. The latest video shows how a user unlocks the Pixel 4 by looking at it, similar to how Face ID works. The company will hope to make it as secure as Apple’s Face ID technology, as face unlock technology in Android phones aren’t considered as secure as Apple’s. Google, however, suggests that won’t be the case with the next-gen Pixel.

“Face unlock uses facial recognition technology that is processed on your device, so that image data never leaves your phone. The images used for face unlock are never saved or shared with other Google services,” the company explained.

The Pixel 4 is expected to release this fall, most probably sometime in October. Google is expected to launch two variants of the handset, the Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL. More details about Google’s next flagship are likely to surface as we near its official release. We’ll update you as soon as we hear anything new. Until then, keep checking back for more.
