Razer launches new thermal cases for iPhones and Razer Phone 2

Razer has launched several mobile cases for its Razer Phone 2, as well as for iPhones. Dubbed as ‘Razer Artech mobile cases’, the new range features a unique thermal cooling technology designed to keep temperatures down in phones to prevent overheating.

Razer calls the cooling system ‘Thermaphene,’ a proprietary technology designed to help keep the temperature down in mobile devices. Heat dissipation is one of the pivotal issues found in smartphones, which is not easy to achieve given the size constraints. And Razer claims that the cooling technology in its cases can drastically reduce the temperature in smartphones, especially during intensive usage. Razer Arctech cases managed to maintain temperatures by up to 6-degree Celsius lower, compared to other similar cases.

“The Arctech cases feature a combination of thermally-conductive layers to effectively dissipate heat, allowing for better phone performance and improved battery life. They have been designed to allow unhindered network connectivity, ensuring smooth gameplay and video streaming as well as working seamlessly with Qi-certified wireless chargers,” explained Razer.

Razer Artech mobile cases are available for the latest iPhone 11 range, along with the iPhone Xr, iPhone Xs, iPhone Xs Max, and the Razer Phone 2. The new range of cases includes the Artech Slim and Artech Pro. As the name suggests, the Slim version is sleek and doesn’t make the phone bulky, while the Pro range is slightly on the chunkier side to offer more protection.

The Razer Artech Slim is priced at $29.99, while the Artech Pro gets a price tag of $39.99. Besides, there’s a Razer Artech Pro THS Edition priced at $49.99. It comes with a scratch-resistant backplate, four absorbent shock sidewalls, and can withstand drops from 10ft/3m.

Apart from Artech mobile cases, Razer has also launched the Blue Screen light protector at $39.99. As the name suggests, it is designed to protect the display and prevent screen glare and eye strain. All these new products are now available for purchase via Amazon and Razer.com.

  • Next-Gen Airpods could feature health tracking capabilities

Next-Gen Airpods could feature health tracking capabilities

Apple’s second generation AirPods are expected to be announced this year. And the latest information about the lightning pods suggests they could come with health monitoring capabilities. According to a report by DigiTimes, several Apple suppliers such as Compeq Manufacturing, Flexium Interconnect, and more are working on the development of next-gen AirPods.

However, the report hasn’t delved into specific details. For instance, there’s no information as to what kind of health monitoring features next AirPods will come with.

Although, such news shouldn’t come as a surprise as Apple has invested heavily in health monitoring. The latest Apple Watch Series 4 is good example in this context. As it comes with health-focused features such as ECG monitoring and other features such as fall detection.

The success of the Apple Watch 4 primarily because of its fitness tracking features has reportedly convinced Apple to invest heavily in the fitness tracking market. This essentially implies that Apple is all-in on health tracking Hence, we can expect next-gen Apple products to come with fitness oriented features.

Elsewhere, the report also suggests that upcoming AirPods might also get a major design overhaul. But then again, no specifcs were added in the report. That said, the report did mention that second generation AirPods could launch in the first half of 2019.

It appears AT&T plans to join the lucrative and ever-growing wireless charger accessory market. As according to an FCC filing, the carrier is allegedly working on a 2-in-1 iPhone and Apple Watch charger that also houses a 3000mAh battery for charging on-the-move.

The filing also reveals the name of this accessory, which AT&T calls the Power Drum Wireless charger and Apple Watch Power Bank. Not to mention, it’ll also work with any smartphone that supports the Qi wireless charging standard.

Going by the the diagram shown in the filing, the top of the Power Drum serves as Qi charging pad for your iPhone or any Qi-compatible smartphone. Besides, the device integrates Apple Watch charger on the front. The hardware supports output of up to 10W, though it can be dialed back to 7.5W for iPhones.

You can find the complete documentation of the Power Drum below:
